Although, the weather is currently a bit cold, but once summer vacation starts, the heat will rise. Most activities or things we do during our summer vacation are a way to bring down the heat. Popsicles are an easy and tasty way to take away the heat.
Popsicle is actually a trademark of Unilever, and not just a name for a frozen pop on a stick. Other frozen pops on a stick are called pops, ice pops, or freezer pops. The creation or the discovery of popsicles was an accident, made by an 11-year old Frank Epperson, in 1905. He was making soda with mixing powder and water, and he left the mixture outside with the stirring rod still in it. The weather overnight went extremely low, and in the morning, Frank found the very first Popsicle. Frank made more, and tried them out with kids, and they loved them. He eventually sold the rights to the Popsicle and it ended up as Unilever’s.
Creamsicles, Fudgesicles, and Slow Melt Pops aren’t actually considered Popsicles. They different brands owned by the same company. There are many flavors and sizes of Popsicles, like the Big Stick, Firecracker, Scribblers and much more. There are even four types of sugar free. Also, brands are coming together to create products such as Popsicle Airheads and Popsicle Jolly Ranchers. So there will always be something to suit your taste.
In your 2011 summer, don’t forget to eat a Popsicle or two, and don’t forget to try a new flavor. And there is to one of the coolest ways to live your summer!

When no one’s looking, maybe you’ve typed in “golden retriever puppies” in the Google Image search bar and “awwww” at the undeniably adorable furballs in front of you.

Golden retrievers are more than a pretty face, however, as they have served as guide dogs, hearing dogs, illegal drug and bomb detectors, hunting dogs, SAR (search-and-rescue) dogs, and therapy dogs. Golden retrievers have a normally versatile, happy, smart, and eager-to-please personality. They were bred to retrieve game, so they had to have a “soft mouth” as to not damage the game that their master had shot down, and have a love of water. They also had to be durable and trustworthy, and are great companions and family dogs.

When our family was considering buying a golden retriever, we had a breeder send of pictures of two puppies that we might be interested in. One picture was of Scout, who was underneath a table, and the other of Missy, who was biting the table leg that Scout was hiding under. We eventually got Missy, who is absolutely amazing, although naughty at times. She actually ate my dad’s cell phone, and chewed on camera chargers and remote controls. Missy is very clever at times, though, (even though she hates retrieving, which I don’t get) especially with tricks.

The golden retrievers were originally bred in Scotland, land ‘o the bagpipes. The breeder bred this hunting dog to Baron Tweedmouth’s specifications, using artificial selection and crossing many breeds to make the ultimate hunting dog.

There are three major types of golden retrievers: British, American, and Canadian. The British kind tends to be stockier and have a squared and boxy face. American golden retrievers have longer tails and faces. Canadian types, however, are much like the American kind, but their golden retriever has a thinner coat and is generally darker in coat color.

If you need a guard dog, don’t get a golden retriever. If a burglar happens to show up at your door, your golden retriever will be more than happy to see them.

Have you ever heard about the show toddlers in tiara’s? well never watch it! Im not trying to be mean or anything and im not at all trying to hurt anyone, but these girls and boys from ages 5-11 are parading around a stage while people judge them on how fake their hair, skin, nose and every other part of them is. The parents of these children are going on paying thousands of dollars for big BRATS! I watched one of their episodes just to see what it was about and I just wanted to go up to them and tell them how horrible they were at being parents.

Honestly, I know it might sound like im telling the parents how to be good im just trying to say that they should think about stuff before they just let their kids ruin their health. A spray tan has so many chemicals in it that can give you skin cancer. Why cant the people just judge kids on how their natural beauty is. Also, these kids aren’t learning the right ways to be a kid. Their parents just tell them that they are the best but, the kids will take that a different way and when they get to school they wont end up with any friends. Except for the ones that want the money when you win.

All im trying to say is first of all, NEVER EVER EVER let your kid be a pageant girl and never ever encourage these girls just because they ‘act’ like the sweetest kids ever, because in reality they are big BRATS!

2. This next one has been around for a long time. It’s Angry Birds! It’s also 99 cents. The birds are fighting against evil, green pigs. You fling the birds and try to knock over the pigs. After they get hurt a lot, they blow up and are dead. The red bird is the normal one. All the other birds have special powers that you will discover throughout the game. If you didn’t already, don’t hesitate to get this 4.5 star app/game!

3. The number 3 app is Tiny Wings. In this game, you are a little bird whose wings are not ready to fly yet. You use hills as jumps to get up in the air. This game is very entertaining and it’s also 99 cents.

4. Number 4…FRUIT NINJA! You are a ninja in this game. Your objective is to slice the fruits without hitting the bombs. Also, you don’t want the fruits to drop if you didn’t slice them yet. This game costs 99 cents and its a 5 star game.

5. Angry Birds Rio is the number 5 app. It’s just like Angry Birds, but it’s based on the movie Rio. Instead of trying to destroy evil pigs, you try to release birds that are trapped in cages. This game is a 5 star game and it’s also 99 cents.

Are you looking for something to do during the summer? Then find a summer camp that you are interested in. Here are my two favorite summer camps.

The first one I will talk about is Camp Winthers. This camp is run by the San Juan District. It’s in Soda Springs. There are many camps to choose from. Some of the camps this year are art, outdoor education, basketball, dance, tumble, and circus, and many more. These camps take place on different weeks and are for people ages 8-12. There’s also a camp for teenagers call Venture Camp. At this camp you swim, hike, sleep outside for a day, and participate in activities based on your camp. The camp lasts for 5 days and it’s really fun. Grab a form at the office today!

The other camp is Sacramento Aquatic Center Camp. This camp is perfect for you if you like being in the water. Some of the camps are basic camp, wakeboard/waterski, kayaking, canoeing, windsurfing, and sailing. This camp also is 5 days long, but it’s a day camp. In basic camp, you participate in kayaking, canoeing, windsurfing, sailing, and water safety. Each one is for a day. This is a great camp for anyone who loves water.

Many of you have probably heard about kung fu panda. The movie about an obese panda in china who has been chosen to be the dragon warrior and learn to do martial arts. It’s a pretty good movie in my opinion but, IMBD rated it a 7.7 out of 10. Anyways, now they have a new movie that is the sequal of kung fu panda, KUNG FU PANDA 2!

Now that he is having the time of his life as the dragon warrior. He has now decided that he has to join forces with another group of kung fu masters to defeat a very old enemy. To Defeat him he has to use the deadly weapon that could kill you!

Po was played by Jack Black, it was amazingly hilarious the way he talks and the things he says and every thing about Po is hilarious. Another really important person whose voice was in it was Angelina Jolie, she played the voice of the master tigress. Last but not least Jackie Chan’s voice was in it too he was the voice of the master monkey.

Anyways, this movie is full of animation and comedy and came out on may 27th 2011. I highly recommend that you watch this movie and hopefully you will enjoy just like I will soon.

Maybe you’ve heard their song “Rhythm of Love,” or maybe “Hey There Delilah.” Just listen on the radio, or cue up YouTube. Plain White T’s create music that blends Indie and pop together for a genius combination. Their latest album, Wonders of Younger, isn’t their best one yet, though. It has eccentric songs that are almost Beatles-esque, or just plain catchy. But all the other songs are just plain…weird.

The first song on the album, “Irritional Anthem,” is okay, but not as good as some of the other songs. This is also the case with “Welcome to Mystery,” “Body Parts,” “Our Song,” and “Airplane.”

My absolute favorite song on the album would be “Boomerang,” which was released as a single in April. It is simply amazing. The song is faster than some of the other songs, and has great instrumental with a mixture of piano (or keyboard?) and guitar. The piano is spectacular.

“Rhythm of Love” is the best-selling song on the album. My mom isn’t a fan of “modern” music, but she just loves this song. It’s a very sweet song, and the lyrics are like a chick flick in three minutes. I absolutely love the beat.

Some other exceptional songs on the album are “Last Breath,” “Map of the World,” “Wonders of the Younger,” and “Make It Up as You Go.” They have quicker beats than the other songs recorded, and these songs equal something that Taylor Swift might sing.

People say that “save the best for last,” but this time, it’s an exception. “Broken Record” sounds like a broken record that was thrown on the ground and stomped on. As for “Cirque Dans La Rue” and “Killer,” I have no idea what to say about these songs. They are simply….ugh. “Killer,” especially. It is just too weird, too eclectic.

My sister gets up after my mom makes our dog jump onto her bed to wake her up. She then puts on various kinds of makeup and applies a second coat of mascara, just to be on the safe side. She sprays her hair with heat guard, and then straightens her hair every day.

My sister complains about her hair and her split ends every day. Frankly, it’s gotten on my nerves that she hogs the bathroom every day just to straighten her hair. What’s worse, though, is the complaining.

When you straighten your hair, the heat basically fries your hair, making it brittle and weak. It can also make your hair extremely frizzy, which is a sure killjoy. You can also burn your scalp, your ears, your hands, and the rest of you if the straightening iron touches your skin. Chemical hair straightening treatments, like Brazilian blowouts, have raised the attention of the FDA due to the fact that the blowout treatment itself has many dangerous chemicals that are hazardous to your health and very bad to inhale, like formaldehyde, which is a carcinogen, or cancer-causing. Women (and maybe men?) complained about having difficulty breathing, nose bleeds, and severe eye irritation. Any of those experiences don’t sound remotely fun at all.

So, if you’re still unsatisfied with your hair texture, look online or maybe in a magazine for hairstyles with your texture.
